Using reason and evidence to do the most good
We're a group of people who want to help you answer the question: how can I do good better?
We all want to do good in the world. However, not all causes do as much good as others. In fact, many good-willed initiatives appear to show no positive outcomes at all, while others are even actively harmful. On the opposite extreme, a select few causes appear to do thousands of times more good than others. Unfortunately, it is often hard to know exactly how much good the causes we support are doing. Effective Altruism is working to change that.
Effective Altruism applies evidence and reason to the idea of doing good. Effective Altruists believe we should dedicate our resources towards the most effective causes to maximize our positive impact on the world. By doing so, each of us has the ability to save the lives of dozens of people in our lifetime, simply by focusing our time and resources on the most effective causes. We invite you to join us on our mission to do good better.
